About the ASTSA 1.Objectives of establishment

The objectives of the establishment of ASTSA are for it to function as a mediator for semiconductor-related industries, connecting Kyushu with overseas, mainly with Asia, where there has been remarkable growth in these industries, to accelerate international business for semiconductor-related industries in Kyushu, and to contribute to the development of semiconductor-related industries in Asia

・Business concerning holding of international workshops on Microelectronics Assembling and Packaging (MAP)
Holding of MAP and its accompanying exhibitions & business discussion meetings

・Business of providing information concerning semiconductor industries in Asia
Providing of foreign trade data
Providing of Enterprise database
Transmission by portal site (home page) of information relating to semiconductors

・Other business activities needed to achieve the objectives of this association

The ASTSA organization aims to achieve the expansion of mutual exchanges and trading between the semiconductor-related enterprises of Kyushu's "Silicon Island" and semiconductor-related enterprises in Asia. ASTSA has been functioning as the semiconductor information center for Asia, supporting the acceleration of international business for small, medium and leading medium-sized enterprises through the dispatching and receiving of business missions, transmission of web news, and the holding of seminars, exhibitions, and business discussion conferences, including the international workshops on Microelectronics Assembling and Packaging (MAP: the 6th workshop was held in Fukuoka starting on October 30th, 2006) on which ASTSA has been working since 2001.

3.Future direction

ASTSA concluded MOU (memoranda regarding strategic alliances) with the Beijing Semiconductor Industry Association (China) and IMAPS-KOREA (Korea) in October 2006, and with MIDA (Malaysia) in December. In future, ASTSA will accelerate the exchanges of information between ASTSA and MIDA including information about enterprises, technical information, and event information related to semiconductors. ASTSA will also dispatch and receive business missions as needed. In addition, ASTSA will strengthen the semiconductor industry network between Kyushu and Malaysia. The current business mission visit to Malaysia by ASTSA and Kyushu enterprises is one result of the MOU agreement.
